Currently Obsessed With

It’s the first month of a new year!  2016 is here to stay so to speak!  Here are a few of my current obsessions.

Of course the life and art of David Bowie are awe inspiring, but I’m a little in love with their love story.  So sweet and so real.

Beach Walk Path Address Plaque

Since I have moved into my house by the ocean I have been obsessed with one particular area of the property.  The walking path to the beach directly behind my backyard!

It’s secluded and reminds me of the lovely walk streets of Venice Beach and in the bike path in Haleiwa on Oahu’s north shore.  There is nothing better than strolling down a lush, fragrant path while hearing the sound of the ocean waves in the distance.  It’s pretty much heaven.

My local homeowner association gives out little awards if your back fence is well tended, the garden is clean and if the street numbers are clear.

So of course I had to come up with something fun and unique to make my oasis special.

I visited my new Hobby Lobby up here in Oxnard and was able to create my own custom sign. I love the results as it matches the fence nicely.

I’ll be refurbishing the fence and planting some new and improved succulents and grasses, but until then, here are some more pics of the gorgeous path behind my house that leads to the ocean.

Move to the Beach

I have live, worked, married, raise children, divorced and found love a second time around all within the county of Los Angeles.  I am an original Valley Girl, but I have always dreamed of living by the beach.

Since I was a teenager I have been venturing up to the Ventura county beach of Silverstrand in Oxnard.  Back in the 70’s my parents bought a little cottage for practically nothing and over the years I spent many happy weekends there.

Fast forward thirty-five years and I finally made it.    I am here.  I am at the ocean.  We are a few beaches up from my beloved Silverstrand at a beach called Oxnard Shores.  I am sixteen houses from the ocean.  I wake up to the sounds of the surf and in the evenings I sit on my little upstairs patio and watch what seems to be the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.  Until the next one!

The house we are living in is a funky modge podge of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.  But it’s got great bones.  Vaulted ceilings and two outdoor spaces.  A large spacious kitchen and a fireplace. I am in heaven.

Of course none of my old furniture really fits, but for now, I am making due. It’s kind of nice to finally have too much space.

I’ll be posting pics, but here are a few of my favorite spots.
