Happy Earth Day at the Little Cinderblock House And Tiny Blades of Grass

It’s Earth Day 2013 tomorrow, and the The Little Cinderblock House has a beautiful new front yard now.  It’s a very green design too I might add.  Succulents and drought tolerant shrubs.  There is still good old fashion grass.  Thanks to the LOML, lots of time, sweat and money. I wish I had stock in Home Depot, Lowe’s and Osh!  It’s oh so close to being complete!   It’s come a long way from the dirt covered yard  with a a broken down brick fence,  rusted white rod iron and overgrown trees to the latest incarnation.

I got so excited this morning when I saw this!

This may look like a bunch of mulch and dirt to the naked eye, but seriously, the little green blades of grass have put a song in my heart!  Yes, I”m easy to please…I admit it.  The grass was the last step of this project and now all that is left is to sit back and watch the grass grow.  How simple my life has become…thank goodness!
Anyway, here is a recap and some shots of the garden that has me so giddy!

My trees from the City of Burbank program “Made in the Shade” really made a difference.

My free labor!

Anyway, it’s been lots of work, but also lots of fun seeing the transformation.  I’ll be posting more before and after pics in the coming weeks.  Here is a sneak peak.
Here is a before pic.  What a mess!  But at least the ugly fence was gone.
